THE FARMER SPEAKS
HOME

One Size does not fit all and neither does one fair trade initiative appropriately address the unique needs and concerns of every growing region

The Fair Share Foundation is a non-profit organization that addresses the sustainability of produce farming like coffee and tea in East Africa. Unlike Fair Trade Certification and other programs to "help the farmer" Fair Share does not burden them with meeting unnecessary certification requirements nor charge them fees. We recognize the eco-friendly and naturally organic farming methods practiced in this region for many decades. The farming infrastructure of all the democratically organized Cooperatives we work with is well established and hence produces some of the best coffees and teas that the world has to offer.

The Farmer Speaks,  and we hope that you will take time to listen to the challenges they face in their own words. Because the foundation works directly with members of the farming community, the board of directors has a better understanding of the dynamics of the sustainability problem in this region.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about the challenges facing the small scale farmers of East Africa. We invite you to browse the website and learn more about the mission of the Fair Share® initiative and how you can help.

Please Share Your Opinion, we are anxious to hear your comments and concerns about this very pressing issue.
